I’m delighted to announce that the Charles W. Chesnutt Archive (note our new name!) has been awarded a one-year grant from the National Historic Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), to begin creating a digital edition of Chesnutt’s correspondence.
The work will start this summer, and will involve obtaining digital images, transcriptions, and encodings of Chesnutt’s early correspondence, both incoming and outgoing. We’ll also be doing annotations to help readers get a sense of the context for these letters.
There’s more exciting news from the Chesnutt Archive to come soon, as we approach the end of our NEH-funded work to renovate and expand the original site.
